Dough boys on 17th at causeway, parking can be tight a times. Take out counter or 8 sit down tables. Lots of mirrors & neon not big on decor or ambience, bathroom small, could use some paint. Waitress was super friendly. Fountain drink w/ refill . Salad fresh, Garlic rolls big , warm & delicious, I like the old fashion regular spaghetti & meat balls or bake ziti , sausage & peppers , always so much food have to take some home. When I have ordered to go items twice my order was wrong when I got home so beware. They do stay open very late some nights, one of best low cost Italian meals. Improvement areas Value level - high Rating 9 of 10

$5 for two extremely large pizza slices and a fountain drink. That's not a bad deal. This is the place you go to when you're starving but either are short on cash or nothing else is open. The pizza was mediocre, as were the garlic rolls. But the prices are cheap. For 6 garlic rolls it was maybe $2. Beer is $3.50. Overall pretty cheap. I'm not sure about the rest of the menu. When I came into town late at night this was one of the only places open that served quick food. I was stuffed. On a side note when you walk in do not expect anyone to acknowledge you behind the front desk. The place was almost empty but it took a good 10 minutes before the waitress from the floor acknowledged us, which quite frankly wasn't even her job. We were standing at the front counter trying to place an order for carry out. The two people behind the counter never acknowledged us. The waitress was pleasant and attentive so we ended up sitting down in her section for dinner instead.

I was in Fort Lauderdale recently , just a short trip, I was fortunate to find Doughboys, near my hotel. Wow - absolutely real NY Pizza - and great topping selection. I liked it so much I had lunch there the next day, some super specials. Salads are fresh and HUGE - get a to-go box. Will def go back to Doughboys when I visit again!

First time I ever put a review and If I could give NO damn stars I totally would, but not because of the food but because of the rude service they have in this place. IS IT SO HARD TO BE NICE!!!! If you make a mistake own it, and make your customers happy. We order a good amount of food and of course they forgot to put something, but the worst part is that the manager is Rude too. How do you expect to have customers coming back if you give them bad service. NEVER AGAIN!!! BTW YOU'RE ALFREDO SAUCE taste like it came from a can, not real cheese!!!

Oh how I feel bad for you non New Yorkers/Jersey folk. Gosh I don't know where to begin so I'll start with the good. There was a lot of food and the delivery guy was nice... That's it. Now for the bad. I come from the North where bread and pizza reign supreme. I am bias so if you are from the area and used to subpar pizzeria, go ahead and get it. This pizza is gross and greasy and cardboard-y. Ugh I know what I'll avoid till I get back home. And buffalo wings, how do you mess up wings? These were soggy, weirdly sauced and greasy. It's a no for me. Although, I will say their delivery is fast.

Doughboys Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant has been in business for over 30 years for good reason. They have a huge, varied menu which offers different size meals for different people. All over their menu you can see: "can serve two", 4 different size pizzas, "mini, small, large" Calzones and Stromboli's, 2 different size wraps, 'half and whole' subs, cups and bowls of soups, 'huge' salads, 'Smaller versions by specific request only'. They have 19 different categories of food such as: Italian Specialties, Combination Entrees, Seafood, Fresh Pasta, Homemade Pasta--okay I don't know if the fresh pasta is different from the homemade pasta but that's for another day. With all the above the food doesn't disappoint and things run fairly smoothly but I prefer going after 5 PM instead of for lunch. The exact same menu is offered for lunch, dinner and late night bites BUT you don't get table service for lunch. You line up at the counter, give your order, pay and then wait for your name to be called. I don't understand why it is full price at both the evening and day time but not the full service. I had a small traditional Stromboli ($9.95) which was more than enough for my large appetite. There was more than enough sausage, pepperoni, and was overflowing with cheese. It was served piping hot and the dough was excellent. Allen had the 12" Roasted Turkey wrap ($9.50) and was more than happy with it. We both had fountain diet sodas ($1.95)--well, we would have, but they were out of syrup so we had Zero cokes. It would have helped if we were told when we ordered so we cold have gotten cans ($1.50) instead which I know was Allen's preference. My only major complaint was the lack of full service. The ladies behind the counter were friendly but they didn't give Allen utensils for his which included a side of pasta and, knowing that the Stromboli would take longer than the wrap they didn't hold back on that knowing we were together. Also, strangely, he got plastic utensils and I got metal. Though there is no way of knowing it you are expected to clean up your own table as you would in most fast food places. Parking is free but if you don't know the area chances are you will wind up having to make a U-turn if you are driving east as chances are you will go right by the end of the shopping plaza they are in. Going west it will come up surprisingly so you might find yourself taking a last minute right turn. The cry of most restaurants is "Location, location, location" and after 30 years Doughboys proves that isn't a must just as they show cutting back on service along with small inconsistencies doesn't discourage business.

Ok, this review is 4 stars for what it is...a non-pretentious neighborhood pizza joint with tasty food, huge portions, and friendly service. It is not gourmet, that's not why you come here. You come here for some greasy good pizza that's open late! They have order at the counter during the day and table service at night. I looked at the reviews and realized most are negative because of delivery. I myself have had bad experiences with delivery, so do yourself a favor and eat inside. The portions are humongous and definitely worth sharing! They also have 2 huge slices and fountain soda for $6, which is a steal. Their dinners (that you can order during the day and easily split with a friend) come with a salad and 5 amazing garlic rolls. If you aren't into the greasy stuff, they have lots of choices for large salads. There is something for everyone.

I like this place. Fast and close to home. Good pizza, subs, and I always get a house salad. I come in for pick up Bc I live close. I've never dined in, or had delivery. But they seem super busy. Ps. The garlic knots are pretty amazing. :)

Even though this is my first official check in on Yelp, I have been here many time before. I love the fact they are open till 4 am on the weekends, and that they are right next to school. In terms of convenience, this place is great, but I must say they do not have the best pizza in town. Now, don't get me wrong, I really like this joint when it comes to grab a quick bite, or when you are not looking for something that will blow your mind, because this is not a place for that. They have the cheese pizza special fir $6 for 2 HUGE slides and a soda. That is such a good deal, that allows ppl to overlook the flavor factor. Like I said, they are not bad, they just don't have the best pizza in town. As far as the menu goes, they have the traditional Italian fare, and a large selection of calzones and strombolis. I love the fact their portions are really big and the prices are low. This past weekend I went to pick up some late dinner, I got their sausage stromboli and it was super tasty. It was very well stuffed, and while I ordered the "small" one, it was big enough for 2 hungry people. I will keep coming back, I like it. It is very clean and super close to my house. Perhaps, I will try other dishes other than pizza and stromboli so I can really know all they have to offer.

One star - only because you can't pick 0- ordered delivery -is it that tough to put pepperoni peppers and onions on a pizza ??? I guess so cause the pizza came without pepperoni - when the driver called to question the fact that there was no pepperoni the office said to look under the cheese- really?? Haha yea it wasn't there - but we were offered 30 percent off a pizza if we wanted to order again tomorrow - yea that's just want I want to order another pizza at a measly 30 precent off from a place that couldn't remember to add pepperoni - no thanks I think I'll find another place to order from - thanks anyway - still not sure how u are still in business stay away !!! As a side not the delivery driver was very nice and helpful- I hope he is looking for a job elsewhere cause he doesn't deserve to work for a shitty place like this !!!

Tried one last time.. ordered 200 dollars worth of food for my wedding party and they kept me on hold for an hour just so they didn't have to send the food..I kept calling back and Allen kept hanging up or putting me directly on hold.. no professionalism at all.. called owner with no response.. avoid the microwave dump at all costs

We didn't feel like leaving the hotel so we figured we'd order a pizza for delivery. The bar tender at the place we went for happy hour recommended this pizza so we figured we'd give it a try. We order around 8:10 - a pepperoni pizza with green peppers and light onions. We were quoted under an hour. Perfect! So we waited. An hour 20 mins the pizza showed up (not too bad I'll take it). We open the box - no pepperoni - the best part was missing! The deliver guy Joe who was very helpfully and tried to make the situation better. He called and we were told that the pepperoni must be under the cheese... yeah no it wasn't. They then offered us 30% a pizza tomorrow after we kept insisting this was insane! The whole thing was a mess we ended up saying look forget it take the pizza back and we'll get room service. All and all a horrible experience I will never order from them again.

I LOVE DOUGHBOYS. If you enjoy a hearty pasta this is the place to go! All of the pasta servings are meant for two people but you know what it's great for left overs too! It's great prices for the amount of food you're getting. I pay $15 for broccoli and chicken Alfredo, which comes with a side salad of your choice (also big), and six garlic rolls. They also have pizza deals, get two slices and soda for $6. Amazing deal because one slice of pizza is bigger than my head!!!! Did I mention I love this place?

I just ordered lunch from here I have a burnt chicken sandwich that is pink in the middle. I called and was told there is nothing they can do for me: So now I have to spend even more money to get lunch not happy with the way I was treated. Sad you would think that they would care about the food and it's not like I work far I can see them from my front door no more

  • Natalie N.

Sad because I love the selection I used to order all the time but I got so sick of them messing up my order I swore them off!! More than a year later I gave in and placed an order! The girl on the phone was not very knowledgeable of the menu I had to repeat my pasta choice 4 times she kept thinking. It was something else! Order took over an hour to get here and it was wrong so annoying although food is good service sucks!!!

Ticket 812859 total was 20.60. Delivery fee included had $22 for driver at hotel. He brought a cold pizza that took over 1 hour. At the desk he said "we work for tips dude". Verbatim. When paid. I advised the phone quote included delivery and they should have paid him. Come on folks. Don't charge for delivery. Deliver cold then ask for even more for your poor service. And pay your people so they don't beg for money like homeless folks on a corner. Seriously. And drivers if they aren't paying you what you need please get another job and don't beg.

Being a New York style fanatic, I must say this comes the closest to NY style pizza in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Simple and delicious. If you're looking for 5 minute delivery time, gluten free/arugula/quinoa, free-range pizza - this place isn't for you. *Keep in mind the rating is brought down by delivery time complaints - try the food at least.

I don't know if I'd even give them one star. I love here in Fort Lauderdale and used to love going to doughboys! I then one time, with my new roommate, tried to order a pizza for delivery and they told me that it would be about an hour. I called back an hour and fifteen minutes later and they told me that if it wasn't there in fifteen more minutes to call back. I did so, and the manager answered very frantically, saying that they had a restaurant full of people at 3am, and that even if my food was eventually delivered he would give me a discount for the inconvenience, and never did. He basically didn't give me the time of day and I will NOT be giving doughboys my service anymore.

I like their pizza but their service and manners are horrible. I called to place an order and was disconnected twice, then left on hold for 5 minutes. It wasn't even a busy time of day (3pm). Just know that you will need to check your order if it's take out and they could use some business manners. Update: Rude rude rude! I've tolerated poor service in the past, but not after today. I called to place an order for a special listed on their website and was told I had to print the coupon! It's not a one time use coupon, it's a special that said to make sure you mention it when ordering. If I were to print the coupon, I'd have to print the entire webpage. Their food is okay, but they always get some part of the order wrong. After today, I'm taking my business elsewhere because they have no customer service skills. Stay away

Hands Down the best pizza near downtown Ft. Lauderdale. Only Primati Bros., Marios, and Valentino's are better. The cheesebread is awesome. To all the people writing negative reviews, go eat at Domino's where you belong and THANK YOU for not crowding up the place. Swear to god one of the idiots who gave this place 1 star rated Taco Bell 5 stars. Tells me everything I need to know about some people writing poor reviews. This place has been making consistently excellent pizza for decades now.

Staying at a hotel near the Ft. Lauderdale airport. Ordered from Doughboy's. After waiting over 45 mins for delivery, the pizza arrived burnt on the bottom. Wish they had checked the quality before delivering. They should have remade it.

I was at a local hotel and the concierge recommended this place. I called in and placed an order for their Doughboys Pasta Toss. The man said it would be about an hour for delivery. Well about 20 minutes later, the delivery person was at my door. Excellent food and LOTS of it! Seriously enough food for 2 people or more. In reading the previous reviews, a lot of people mentioned that the employees were rude...that wasn't my experience at all. Man on the phone helped me choose a pasta and the driver was also nice. What more could you ask for?? Great food, they deliver and they're open late.

The food is okay nothing special, and I ordered from them twice and twice they forgot something ... And when I brought it up to a Manager they told me that they would only replace what I ordered if I was able to wait over an hour, cause that was my only option. I would not recommend them, there are a lot of other better places in the area !

We stayed at a hotel nearby and had a pizza and cheesy garlic bread delivered. Delivery was within the time they stated and the pizza and bread were absolutely delicious! I was worried because of the couple negative reviews, but we went ahead and ordered since it was late and we were exhausted. Highly recommend!

Not bad. We had the pizza delivered in room at our hotel. We decided to stay in that night and took a chance. It was not the greatest pizza in the world but not the worst either. You never know where the really good pizza is when visiting another city. We took a chance and did okay.

  • Amber S.

The food is amazing! Unfortunately, the service is SO terrible, it makes it almost not worth ordering there. They are rude on the phone, delivery takes over an house no matter wen you order, and about 30% of the time they get your order wrong, and are not apologetic! Sadly, I crave their Greek salad and meatball subs... and the pizza is really yummy- so I put up with the abuse.

When I'm in the neighborhood I come here for a slice of pizza and a soda. The pizza is awesome! The portions are very generous for the price. The staff is courteous enough for a casual environment.

Pizza, eeecchhh, you might as well make it on English muffins with jar sauce. I used to think their pizza was OK, that was before I discovered another place, unfortunately it's in North Lauderdale, see my other rfeview

Great value food. I've been here a bunch of times with friends back in high school and I loved their taco pizza. It can be a little heavy for some people but if you're just out of practice and need fuel its great. I think the regular cheese and pepperoni were tasty too. Overall I was very satisfied.

I had Chicken Carbonara with garlic knots and though both were super greasy, they weren't bad. Had the service been better, this place would have earned a solid 3 from me; particularly since this has often been an Italian go-to spot for me in the past, since I work in such close proximity. However, when I came in, I stood behind a gentlemen who was already being helped and then proceeded to pay. Ok. Fine. I have no problem with that. After that guy paid, he proceeded to pick up eat-in & pickup orders from the order window and hand them to their owners. Ok. Cool. They deserve to get their food hot since it's already ready, right? So then it's my turn, and as I wait to give him my name so that I may retrieve my own pick-up order, he points to the guy at the farthest end of the pick-up counter (you know, the guy that came in AFTER ME & was STANDING BEHIND ME for the 20 minutes that I waited patiently to pick up my food), and goes, "Yes sir! How may I help you?" **Spoiler alert: That jerk actually started to order!** So, I (you know, the one that has already waited 20 MINUTES to pick up an order while everyone else got serve. And the one standing taller than the man out the counter, rocking a BRIGHT, ST. PATRICK'S DAY GREEN SHIRT. And the one that jerky counter guy had to reach around TWICE to hand people their trays of food), go, "EXCUSE ME, Sir! I am NEXT." So, the guy points to jerky order guy and says with attitude & disdain, "NO! HE WAS WAITING LONGER THAN YOU!' I said, "NO. HE WAS NOT. And until 2 minute ago, I'm SURE you saw his standing BEHIND ME." Nearly yelling, he goes, "Well, I don't know WHO was first! SO DON'T BE TAKING IT SO OFFENDING!" (Yes, ladies & gents, a man who slings pizza behind a counter and who has noticiable trouble forming a grammatically correct sentence, calls himself sounding off on a PAYING customer (you know, one of the ones who are typically considered "always right"?). I look at my friend, who still wants the food, and say, "Whatever man! i'm picking up an order for Lavi." I guess by that time, he realized that I had money to spend and suddently became sweet as pecan pie, but the damage was done by then. NEVER... AGAIN... PERIOD.

Could not make a simple chicken spinach Caesar salad.... I cannot have romaine - a shame it's not like it was such a difficult request. Sad all I've been craving and I'm immobile. Customer relations and service is a joke.

Their hot subs are amazing, every time I come home from school I stop here on the way home from the beach, but CHECK YOUR ORDER!! Last 5 times I have been here, not exaggerating, I have gotten home with or been given the wrong thing. It's absolutely ridiculous. Don't waste your time, their food isn't good enough to make up for it . UPDATE: I wrote this as I was waiting for my latest order to be corrected only to walk out to my car and check it for it to be WRONG AGAIN. And the people don't give a shit. Never going back.

  • David D.

Pizza's not bad. But if I gotta make three phone calls and run completely around my building, it isn't really "delivery." Chinese places and sandwich shops have no problem here. Guess my hipster-looking delivery guy couldn't be bothered. Needless to say, I'm re-heating this now. Thanks Joe Cool; enjoy your next Coachella.

My husband and I ordered a large pizza, the attendant advised it would take about 50minutes which we thought It was too long however we placed the order. 1 hour and 42 minutes later the pizza arrived and it was cold and soggy. We will never order from this place ever again. Primates bros is way cheaper and way better in all meanings.

Absolute rip off specially if you get take out. They figure its out there door not their problem. $19.00+ for extra chicken cutlets because they are really good and fresh, pasta with sauce very little sauce on chicken if needed to cook so it wont stick top the pan, at least that is what was told to me. End result 1/2 piece of chicken no sauce on pasta nor was there any sauce to cook or reheat the chicken cutlet to begin with. CHURN AND BURN !!!!!!

My wife and I got pasta for takeout on Friday night. Everything was great and we thought we had found our neighborhood pizza parlor. Then we decided to return for takeout on Saturday night and our meal could not have been worse. Our chicken was dry and borderline burnt, the garlic rolls were cold, and the pasta was mushy. My wife made me email the manager ( no reply ) to tell him about our experience . She was sure they would make it right after we had such a good meal the night before . So after waiting 2 weeks and letting my anger die down here is my review.

Worst customer experience ever. I have been going to dough boys for over 25 years. I always raved about their pizza. I used to get delivery once a week when I lived in the delivery area. Whatever friends and family come to town I always take them there for a really excellent pizza. I have seen this place go downhill really fast. Last week while friends are in town we ordered a large pie to take out. It was a 20 minute drive but I assured them it was worth the drive. We didn't check the pizza before we left and drove home only to find our pizza was burned on one side and raw on the other. We ate half of it and throw away the raw part. It was so unlike them that I decided to call the restaurant and let them know. The manager said he would write in a book the problem and next time the pizza will be on them. I thought that was really nice. In the 30 years I have been going there maybe I had one other problem but very rare. Today decided to call and order a large pie and told them of the situation last week. The manager Ramiro said yes we noted it and we will give you 20% off the pie. He said that's all you get! He had such an attitude. He said he can only give me what the guy wrote in the book that people call and complain all the time that the order is wrong or burnt and that whatever the guy writes in the book at the time the order is wrong is the only thing that they can do. It sounded to me like a lot of people have been complaining that their orders were wrong or just bad and he was getting frustrated with the calls. He was obviously frustrated with people calling to complain about their food going downhill or the orders being wrong instead of correcting the situation he was obviously taken out on the customers. I thought he was joking at first but he really lashed out at me. I was so upset that I actually drove to the store to have a conversation with him. When I arrive to Ramiro could not look me in the eye. I told him I have been coming here for years he said yes everybody comes here for years! He had no interest or intent in saving me for keeping me as a customer. I explained to him the reason I came down to the store was that most people vote with their feet instead of taking the time and courtesy to let him know what the problem was and how we could correct it. Most customers just never come back. But I loved their pizza. It was right out of an episode of Seinfeld call the Soup Nazi. He had no care whether the customer is happy or not and he told me the owner just cares about getting the cash. He said if they had to give away free food every time it was burned or made wrong they would go out of business. I asked him maybe if they didn't burn the food or make it wrong they wouldn't have to give people discounts or free food. This was obviously a long-standing problem that has been going on for a while he was not upset with me but the amount of people that have been complaining and he was just tired of dealing with it so instead of dealing with it he just brushes the customers off thinking that customers just want to complain. I was not happy and very sad that what used to be one of the best pizza places has gone downhill so fast in the quality of food and what makes it even worse is there is no attempt in any customer service effort at all to retain or even care about their customers. Obviously the owners do not read any reviews. They obviously prey on tourists because no local will ever go back to this place if that's how they are treated. After reading the reviews on here it is a consistent thread that they are consistently rude to customers. These are just the people that take the time to post. What about the thousands that never go back. People vote with their feet they just walk away from the business.. I'm hoping that the owners will read this and make an effort to save their failing business. This place could be a gold mine. They must be happy with the amount of business they are doing or they would fire all of the management. There were only four people in there having dinner when I went at 7 o'clock. I remember the days when you couldn't get in. The phone rang twice while I was there. By the way when the phone rang they immediately said please hold. If your a tourist and want bad service and an attitude feel free to call them. Just be sure to make sure your order is correct and not burnt before you leave or the driver leaves. Another Fort Lauderdale institution going downhill and out of business real soon . So sad.... Just to update I spoke with the owner .he spoke to me for over an hour. He was very concerned and agreed that the employee did not follow proper procedure and I will give them one more shot. I will let you know how my next experience is.

This was the only menu the hotel desk clerk provided saying the were "excellent and open until 2 AM." We ordered a large with pizza with few toppings hoping for faster delivery. It was not until after we ordered that we were able to get the yelp reviews to come up so hoped for the best. Our pizza arrived in about 45 minutes, the sodas were packed in ice in a plastic bag. The slices were fairly good sized and tasty sauce. The yucky part was when you tried to take a slice the center part of the toppings slid off revealing slimy soft crust. We were tired and hungry so we folded the slices and ate only the outer edges.

Giant slices and open late. What more can you ask for? They have the 2 slice combo with a drink but can you really finish 2 giant slices? Maybe if i was drunk. Service was a little slow but overall a good experience.

So the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because it takes anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half for delivery...always. I always get the pasta with meat sauce and I swear, I'm addicted to it. The food is ALWAYS delicious...with the exception of the pizza...I just can't get into it. However, the calzones, salads, soups, pastas....delicious!! They also deliver til 4 in the morning which is wonderful on those long nights :)

Worst estimated delivery time ever! The pizza arrived 2 hours late and it was cold, the manager offered to cut the price in half. Are you kidding me? She said that if I would like, they would put another one in and I would get it in 45 minutes. I don't think so. That's what they said the first time. Fool me once shame on you.... If I were you, I would think twice about having anything delivered from this location. Read the poor reviews.

Food here is reasonably good, but that's the end of the line for this place. Service when delivery is used is atrocious! Delivery time is always set for over an hour, they are always late, and often this means your food is cold (or warm depending on what you ordered). If these guys don't get they're act together soon? I'm done with them. Italian delivery in Ft. Lauderdale is a dime a dozen.

Ordered steak and cheese sub with onions, mushrooms and peppers for delivery. After nearly an hour, it arrived without onions, mushrooms or peppers. It was so dry I could hardly swallow it, even when loaded with mayo and ketchup. It cost nearly $14 with delivery charge. Last order for this place.

Fast and friendly service. Unfortunately, the pizza is not very good. Since we only tried the pizza, it's all I can comment on. I have seen this restaurant many times as I have been in the area for the past 5 years. Finally, we werer craving pizza and decided to try it. I liked the name because in New England, Dough Boys are fried pieces of pizza dough that is covered with powdered sugar. So I looked up the menu a long time ago, but alas, no dough boys- just what looked to be a good varied menu. Per the website, they open at 10:30 am Mon-Fri, but when we got there at 11:40 am, they were still not open. They did open the door and let us sit and look at the menu until it was 11:00 am and then order. Typical pizza decor, booths, and you order at the counter and go get your food when it is ready. We ordered a large pizza (regular) with sausage amd mushrooms. Nothing wild or crazy, although they did offer numerous ways and many toppings. The menu is big with lots of salads, sandwiches, both hot and cold. They even had chicken wings and pasta dishes. The pizza was big, and the crust was crisp, not oily. However, there was not enough tomato sauce on it, and there was lots of cheese. Sounds like it hsould have been good, but it was pretty dry. Add fresh mushrooms that were really dry and crisp around the edges and crumbled sausage that was so crumbled it was burnt in spots and it was not very good. A lot could have been better if there was just enough tomato sauce for the mushrooms to stay moist and the cheese to melt into the sauce. Then the sausage would not have tasted likle grains of sand. I think there was 10 slices or so. We ate 4 and did not ask for a box for the rest. Really disappointed. I should have read the yelp reviews and made a better decision.

This place is great for pizza or calzone! Tons of toppings and very large serving sizes- delicious! I don't find the other options (subs, entrees, etc) anything to write home about, but the cannoli is to die for! Wait times for delivery can be an hour or more, so call before you're starving!

Really good pizza and rolls. Soft chewy crust. Not too much sauce and None of that greasy stuff. =) it's always fresh and they've got the fastest and friendliest service. I will def be ordering again.

Counter service. Atmosphere is in line to a NY pizzeria. Ordered garlic knots, greek salad and ny style half chz/pep pie. Knots where hot and covered in real garlic. Salad was fresh with a commercial creamy greek dressing. Pie sauce was more savory with obvious garlic and basil ingredients. Overall good food.

I have been going to this place as the easy, quick, always OK (not great) place for about 20 years. The last year it has been less then OK. Tonight my family and I experienced what I would call the the lamest service in a long time. We were the only customers sitting in the restaurant. Our appetizers came out so quick that the fried mozzarella and fried raviolis were uncooked. I asked the waitress if she could redo the order because they were not finishes. They re-fried the appetizers a second time and brought them out dripping in re-fried grease and missing the portions that were cut at the table in the same serving tray. The attitude of the staff was "well you wanted it re-fired so here ya go". So we canceled the dinner order and told them we didn't want the food and got up to go. They then told us "we are going to charge you for the 3 sodas we drank 1/4 of" The attitude from the waitress and the manager did not in anyway reflect an once of caring that they just messed up a dinner service to the only customer sitting in the place. WE WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER Ever return. We drove to Coconuts, had a great meal and were treated like a customer. The people reading this. We did not want anybody to Kiss our (&%#$'s but some basic customer service skills should be provided when your out. We always tip 25% and we haven't walked out of a place in a very long time. The port workers and cruise ship workers are probably the only reason they will stay in business.

My family liked the pizza we ordered 14' pepperoni and italian sausage. You order at the counter and then they call your name. The salads were fine.

Maybe I just had a horrible first experience, but I will not be doing business with them again. Our delivery wait time was "up to an hour" for two calzones. They didn't show up until about two hours later and our food was cold. My veggie calzone was nothing but ricotta cheese. When my roommate called to complain, the manager gave us a $4 discount.

When we called the front desk for delivery pizza options, Doughboys was one of the suggestions. It certainly is not based on their ability to deliver it. We were told 50-60 minutes, which is the usual amount of time that I have been quoted at other places although it often only takes 30 minutes. Not at Doughboys! It actually took them over 1.5 hours and the pizza was cold. When I called to verify the time that I ordered the pizza to make sure that it actually took that long to deliver a pizza 5 miles away, it took the person on the other end of the phone 8 minutes to tell me. He did offer to put me to the head of the line and send out another one asap. Really? Like I trust that! I finally got over myself and the disappointment of eating so late and tried the pizza. It's actually pretty good. The Doughboy Deluxe, with pepperoni, sausage, onions, green peppers, mushrooms and black olives, was loaded on a thin tasty buttery crust. Not as greasy as usual pizzas with pepperoni on them so that was a nice surprise. Tender crust too. The guy on the phone offered a credit to order again or come in and try again. I think that I will find the place and dine in since i'm not really ready to try their delivery anytime soon. I'll let you know.

really good food, too bad their customer service skills are horrible. Everytime i order they are so rude on the phone. It is very clear they do not care about the customers. This includes the delivery drivers. Over an hour wait for our food. UPDATE: 8/12/13 I called today for delivery, It took 25 min to place my order: 15 on hold and another 10 placing a very basic/simple /small order. I tried giving this place another shot, but its not worth it. I ended up cancelling the order after I was told my food would take over an hour to get to my business down the street.

Caesar dressing is great. And they make it there. The soup tastes like it's out of a can. The fries are awesome but they kinda make ya feel like you're lucky they exist. The delivery took over 1 1/2 hours. I live 2 blocks away. Only had it delivered bc it was midnight and didn't have a car. For fast late night delivery use Big C's Downtown Pizza. But these guys do a good job on salads and their margarita pizza is really good too.

Ordered delivery and like everyone else has stated, it took a very long time (almost and hour and a half) and the food was cold! The guy who answered the phone and took our order was just plain rude. He seemed annoyed to be taking the order at all, which is not how you want to be treated as a customer. We ordered the manicotti with soup, a sub and a small salad and an order of garlic knots. The soup tasted like it was poured right out of a can. It was definitely not housemate or even close. The sub was edible, but not flavorful or even hot. The manicotti was really not worth eating. It had an awful, runny, flavorless sauce with large pools of grease floating on top. The mozzarella on top was gummy and cold too. The garlic knots were absolutely dripping in grease and, you guessed it....COLD. To top it off, we were overcharged by $6 on the order for some unexplainable reason. This food was some of the worst Italian that I have ever had. We definitely want be repeat customers at this restaurant. Way too many better choices in the area.

The pizza was great. Was worth the wait. But please tell us that it will take 1hr 30 min. Not 45 min. Waiting for the time is ok when it's given right.

Their calzones and Greek pitas are great. I get the Greek pita minus the chicken though because it's more like boiled chicken chunks which are totally unnecessary.

We've passed this place so many times & finally tried it. I'm so glad we stopped. Their specialty house pizza is AMAZING. We were going to try a regular cheese pizza but the cashier told us how delicious that pie was & oh was he ever right.

Yelp needs 1/2 stars. GREAT SERVICE food was mediocre at best. I had linguine with meat sauce add mushrooms and cream of spinach soup, she had Penne a'la vodka. Mine had no mushrooms and was very bland, the soup was terrible. Her's was more like runny soup and had little flavor.

This place rocks! I've always randomly popped in to eat lunch throughout the years but recently, I have become somewhat of a regular. I started ordering their pizza by the slice, next graduating to the meatball sub and currently on the 1/2 ham n provolone cheese sub with their delicious side of pasta salad! where can you get a huge sandwich with all the fixings and a nice side of pasta salad for $5.25 these days? The location is great if you are coming from the beach but not as if you are coming off of federal hwy. I've had business lunches with colleagues years ago as well as dining on my own and it's always a welcome environment each time. The staff is friendly and entertaining and my order always comes out fairly quickly and correct. Their salads look like a contender for my next obsession n I look forward to my return even though I just ate lunch there again today!!!

Went for lunch before heading to the airport. The pizza had fresh ingredients on it- sliced tomatoes, olives, mushrooms- not from a can! The pizza overall was good- a bit pricy but worth it. Quick service- traditional pizzeria.

fast and friendly service but the Lasagna was not very good, or atleast not my taste in food that I pay $19 for. To much cheese and too WAY TO greesy, and just plain tasting. The garlic breads had to be wrapped in 3 different bags and it was still leaking oil.

Tried for hours to call in a delivery order to be delivered to our hotel. I can only wait so long and then forget it. After reading the reviews no wonder the line was busy busy all the time. Should at least answer your phone on a friday night, customers might be trying to place orders. Reviews and hotel staff said it was a great italian joint for delivery, but it's obvious whenever they get around to answering the phone and or delivering.

I felt like I was dealing with the Soup Nazi when trying to order. It was my first time eating here. Friends said the pizza was good, so we gave them shot for weekday lunch. When you first walk in, you face the ordering counter immediately. We grabbed to go style menu and stepped to the side to review. Staff was not friendly or accommodating at all. We had to ask if/how to be seated, where to order, etc. A rude female staff member took our order. We got a pizza with one side salad and a bowl of soup. When food is ready, customers are called to ordering counter to carry food back to their own table (nightmare). Pizza was good. Soup and salad were below average. Would get a pizza to go in the future and stay away from everything else. Would get the two slices and soda special and eat on 17th street median before eating inside again. Pizza good-staff bad!

Food is good but never (and I mean NEVER) correct. The other reviews talk about how long it takes for delivery but even when you are standing in front of them they make you wait forever. Don't drive away without checking your order because you always have to go back in (and wait again) to get the order that you wanted. You will pay for the correct order and you can watch them write it down correctly but you NEVER get what you paid for.

I live around the corner now, so I decided to try out Doughboys. I picked up 2 pepperoni pizzas the other night and used a $3 off coupon on a large one topping. Total came to $29-something. Not the cheapest prices, but the pizza was really good. Everyone commented that it was delicious. Comparing it to other pizzas I've had in the area, I'd say it was above average. The food were ready when I arrived for pickup in 20 minutes and service at the counter was friendly. I'll probably go back another time...

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. I didn't even want to give this place one star but I had to at least pick one to post. I have ordered exactly two times from here, the first it was raining and the delivery driver came to my door completely soaked from head to toe and handed me soaking wet, leaking, spilled bags of food. Now, tonight I decided to try again because they had given me a coupon. I ordered baked ziti and two greek salads, got my delivery over an hour later and when I opened the bag there was no baked ziti but instead a pan of chicken wings. When I called to tell them, the guy that takes the orders left me on hold for over ten minutes until I had to hang up and call back and then he proceeded to argue with me that I ordered the chicken wings, when in fact I have the hand written order here from them with the receipt saying "baked ziti". I work in the food industry and this place is horrible, along with terrible people skills and service. Do yourselves a favor and skip it altogether and head to Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza down the street... ***As a later footnote, the manager Tony was extremely helpful when I decided to call back a last time for refund. They issued me the refund, but now it is after 11 PM, we don't eat chicken wings, and we are going to bed with no dinner...never calling there again...

Ordered delivery so I could watch a basketball game in my hotel room. I was told by the front desk, who recommended Dough Boys, that it often takes up to an hour but to trust him that it was worth the wait. I whole heartedly agree. From the happy sounding order taker to the good attitude from the delivery person the entire transaction was well appreciated. It did take 49 minutes from order to doorbell ring but that's not bad if you order delivery in my opinion. Heck if you need it faster than that either go and dine in or do takeout. Know that going in and don't heckle or lessen the rating based on delivery time if you're aware of it beforehand. I asked the order taker whether I should order chicken parm or lasagna. Their website claims a generations old lasagne recipe. He said if this was a 1st time customer to definitely choose the lasagna. I did. Great choice. The portion was more than ample for my appetite and had the perfect blend of spices, cheese, noodles and meat. Cooked perfectly and was piping hot when it arrived. Absolutely delicious. Accompanying salad was a great complement, simple garden salad with balsamic vinegrette (sp?) that was crisp, fresh and not warm at all despite the trip from the restaurant. The final touch was the garlic rolls. Soft and very garlic filled. Again delicious. Could have been warmer but a quick trip into the microwave did the trick in my room. I don't often post to sites like yelp but this is a smaller, likely family-owned business that deserves a praise for doing things right. I'd much rather support them if given an equal choice versus a chain. Do yourself a favor if you're in the area of I-95 and state road 84 and order from Dough Boys. You'll be happy.

Food was great but the customer service is horrible!!!!!! They took the order by phone, repeated it back, then failed to deliver some of the items. When I called to say items were missing from my delivery, the woman said she never repeated those items back. I reminded her how we joked that I can never order less than 4 items every time I call, yet I only received delivery of 2. She became rude and snippy when **I** apologized and said "I'm sorry you think you didn't hear me, but clearly I was charged, gave your driver the coupon for it and I'd like my delivery as promised." She replied "FINE!!!! If we have another delivery in your area today, we'll send it out, but you're WRONG - you never said that in your order!" I thanked her (hoping she would in turn show good customer service and correct the wrongdoing). Then I waited several hours for a delivery that never showed. Finally, my guests said "Let's call again and place a small order and see if they bring our original order with the delivery as promised (obviously noting that the delivery would be "in my area"). They delivered the new small order, but no sight of the rest of my other order from earlier. I will NOT be calling them for anything ever again, as $80 for the day was quite enough for failed delivery, bad customer service, broken promises/lies, and to be treated so rudely when I was catering to several guests who would have given them more repeat business in the future had the experience been nicer. It's really too bad they think they can get away with stealing money from their patrons without consequence.

Definitely a three star. The people are great. The regulars in the joint seem to feed on that ambiance. Location - GREAT! This is the closest pizza place to the beach yet is still reasonably priced. The menu is like a phonebook and a dictionary combined. It's large. The food is so so; but listen to this; we had the leftovers in a Doughboys' takeout box and the valet parking attendants at the W Hotel stated we had found the best pizza in Ft Lauderdale. All at once it tasted better.

This place has absolutely the most horrible, unprofessional customer service I have ever experienced from any restaurant up until now. That day will live in infamy for me for the rest of my life. I placed an order for a medium cheese pizza to be delivered to my workplace, which is normally a ten to fifteen minute drive away from Doughboy's. I waited a little over an an hour, and my pizza still didn't show up. So I decided to call and ask what's going on. I was so hungry that I barely had energy to even talk. They told me the delivery driver was on his way. So I waited another half an hour. My pizza still didn't show up. So after waiting a total of an hour and a half, I decided to just go buy pizza from another pizzeria. And after I picked up my pizza from the other restaurant, Doughboy's had the nerve to call and ask, "Did you order a pizza?" 1 hour and 45 minutes after I placed my order. I was furious. I felt insulted for not even being recognized. Since I'm required to give a minimum rating of one star, I couldn't even give a rating of zero stars. Unbelievable!

This is a little hole in the wall place that puts out some pretty good food. Ive been going here for years and I can't really complain. The best part is you can get the food to go, drive 5mins and eat on the beach. The sandwiches are HUGE. The pizza is pretty good and so are the calzones. The menu has something for everyone on it and is super extensive.I'm not saying they have the best pizza ever but they are pretty good! It is a little grimy on the inside but if you can see past that you enjoy the food!

Eh. Mediocre. Once upon a time, this was a terrific local pasta joint; not anymore. I had the eggplant Parm sub. The eggplant was stringy, it was served lukewarm, and the sauce was bland. The bread/sub roll was crisp and tasty, however. Overall, not worth a return visit.

Food was OKAY. The person who took the delivery order over the phone wasn't very knowledgeable about the menu, and charged for items we should have already received. The delivery man was SUPER rude and complained about his 3$ tip.... Food was smashed into the boxes and spilled in the bag... they left out some of our Order so after waiting an hour for the food to arrive we waited an additional hour for the remaining food to come. Wont be ordering anytime soon, that is for sure!

Started off by calling to place a carry out ordere and was placed on hold for over 5 mins then hanging up and calling right back and again placed on hold. Finally able to place my order ( combination #3) Chicken Parm with Stuffed Shells, garden salad and garlic rolls ($15.95). Order was ready for pickup when told however upon reaching home with my order, the only thing that was edible was the sauce. The chicken Parm was like rubber and the breading was soggy. Tasted like it had been made earlier in the day and microwaved to order ( You all know how chicken gets after being microwaved). Yuck! And now for the stuffed shells... Not too sure what they were stuffed with but the cheese had a very "fake & rubbery" taste and texture. I'm not Italian however I know my italian food and if I'm correct, the shell should have a ricotta cheese in them. The mystery stuffing in those shells was horrible. Garden salad was a poor excuse for a salad, consisting of iceberg lettuce, 1 slice of tomato, some red onion and a perpercinni. Italian dressing was ok but nothing spectacular. I won't be back.

Vegeterian Pizza with whole wheat crust is probably the best veggie pizza I have ever had, and I love my veggies! The ingredients were definately fresh and plentiful, and the crust was perfect. Takes a long time for delivery (usually about an hour) so make sure to order well in advance so you're not starving by the time it's delivered. Well worth the extra money.

Ordered from the residence inn while staying overnight in Fort Lauderdale. It took 2 hours (literally 2 hours) for delivery. Food came and it was warm but not hot. I was very disappointed and naturally I called to let them know my dissatisfaction. Manager was rude and refused to come to any solution. I would NEVER order from here again!

They are always nasty! Awful customer service, will leave you on hold forever (even when they're not busy. I've watched them put people on hold, then play around with each other before answering the phone again). I recommend the owners reevaluate their staff.

I was waiting for my pizza one night, take out. Listening to the employees answering the phone; especially the middle age "woman". I have never heard such a rude person in my life! Every call she would roll her eyes, almost yell at the customers on the phone. It was as though she enjoyed shocking the customers waiting. I've lived in FTL for 25 years and have seen my fair share of rude, but these employees should be fired on the spot. Maybe she just got out of prison......

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Never received our order. No messages on phone. Will NEVER order from them again. They never even apologized or made an effort to make it right. A bunch of incompetent people working behind the counter and on the phones. Told us it would be an hour. An hour and a half later, they lied and told us it would be right there, in a couple of minutes, they had some delays. But it was a new story when we called another 30 minutes later. Said there was a problem with the credit card. Yeah, the problem was the idiot who took the number down. Do yourself a favor and find another pizza joint.

Good pizza and subs, but in desperate need of enhancement to compete with the newer lunch places nearby. Standards of service and food quality are not quite what they used to be at this long-time establishment, but there is still time to improve before I close the door here.

I've had the pizza here twice-- day I moved into the neighborhood and one time when I had a bunch of people over that I had to feed. The pizza (the sauce) was good but I still must continue my endless quest to find New York style pizza in Fort Lauderdale.

  • Deke K.

Their parking lot is a nightmare-small and at a busy intersection but I had a hankering for pizza. The place smells delicious and I was tempted to switch to pasta. The order counter had an "unfriendly" aura, with a grouchy guy answering phone-ins and a waitress complaining to another employee openly about how she was treated by management. I chose a veggie 10" pizza and waited at an outside cafe table where it was more peaceful. It took a reasonable 25 minutes to get my pizza. I took it back to my hotel to enjoy at my leisure. Their definition of veggie did not turn out to be a good flavor combination to me. The zucchini and broccoli were large chunked, lightly cooked and did not "go" with the pizza. I ended up picking them off. The end crusts were inedible (too chewy, dry and wheaty) and I was nonplussed by the sauce and cheese flavor. It called itself "New York style", so I'm not sure if I don't like this "style" or just this company's pizza. I think it was large and fair priced. The menu was vast and the place was busy. It would be worth another visit to check out their other items.

The food at doughboys is delicious! We have been coming here for a longgggg time! I will have to say if you do want delivery make sure to call in advance. The food is always fresh and the portions are huge!!!! The chicken wings are delicious! We always order these at the office and of course pizza. If you are vegan the veggie pizza no cheese is the way to go! Another one of our favorites is the calzones! The small can feed 3 ppl! Since its so close to my office this will always be one of my favorites!

Ordered lasagna, garlic bread rolls, and antipasto salad. The lasagna was horrible, meat tasted like it was bad, was sitting in a pool of grease and they said the recipe was passed down 4 generations....hmmmm amazing how they can get lasagna wrong for 4 generations! The garlic bread rolls were completely saturated with grease... I literally squeezed all the liquid out of one and measured about a 1/8 th of a cup of grease....disgusting! The antipasto salad was good however... loaded with mainly lettuce. The guy on the phone seemed to be bothered by our call, the delivery was about an hour which was fine, they warned us of this and the delivery guy was nice. Our bill was over $30, and we threw just about everything away...total waste of money and will NEVER order from here again!

Dough Boys was the obligatory ad on my hotel's TV listing guide, so I decided to try them out without checking reviews. That usually results in disappointment, but it's nice to be adventurous now and then. After checking their site, I ordered by phone, speaking to a lady who seemed to be a little annoyed that I had bothered her. I asked for a medium Meat Lover's pizza, and was brusquely told the measurements for the different sizes, and that they did not go by Small, Medium, Large or XL. Which was strange, because I was reading exactly that directly off their online menu (strike 1). I also ordered some mozzarella sticks, since at lunch I had had a bad experience with some very lousy ones from the local Arby's. When she gave me my total, I was shocked to hear that it was over $30, I went back over the menu and realized the cheese sticks were over $8! I asked about this and said "Are they the large ones?" imagining some big Hooter's-style sticks, which are great. She assured me that they were large, so I accepted this, finished my order and relaxed to wait on my food to arrive. It did so approximately an hour later. I don't have an issue with delivery taking a long time IF they warn you beforehand, which they did... no problem there. The delivery guy was nice and professional. I excitedly popped open my container of mozzarella sticks, with my mouth watering.... ....and found what appeared to be an EXACT duplicate, down to the texture, color, spices and taste, of the tiny, reheated sticks I had gotten at Arby's earlier. 8 of them, for OVER $8. If that's not an absolute ripoff, I don't know what is. Disappointed, I opened my pizza box and found a pretty standard meat lover's pizza with a slightly overcooked bottom. I ate half of it, and I'm not throwing up this morning so that's a plus I suppose. Final word: There are better places. Go to those.

Horrible service! Called to place an order, after being placed on hold for 10 mins, someone came on the line and asked "Pick up or delivery?" Said delivery and placed on hold again for another 7 minutes. Finally, same person came back on the line and asked again "Pick up or delivery?" (no apology for the extremely long wait) Said delivery and he asked for the phone number, mid way through giving it, he hangs up! Incredibly rude! Wish we read the reviews of others with similar experiences before we bothered looking at the menu. We ended up ordering from Cyber Pizza Cafe, who had good food, even better customer service, and an easy to use online ordering system!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
